2 He lets me lie down in green pastures; (C)
He leads me beside quiet waters. (D)
3 He renews my life;
He leads me along the right paths [a]
for His name's sake. (E)
4 Even when I go through the darkest valley, [b]
I fear
danger,
for You are with me; (F)
Your rod and Your staff [c] —they comfort me. (G)
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; (H)
my cup overflows. (I)
6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life, (J)
and I will dwell in [d] the house of the LORD
as long as I live. (K) [e]
6 I [a] am deeply depressed;
therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan
and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. (A)
7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of Your waterfalls;
all Your breakers and Your billows have swept over me. (B)
8 The LORD will send His faithful love by day; (C)
His song will be with me in the night—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will say to God, my rock, (D)
"Why have You forgotten me?
Why must I go about in sorrow
because of the enemy's oppression?" (E)
10 My adversaries taunt me,
as if crushing my bones,
while all day long they say to me,
"Where is your God?" (F)
11 Why am I so depressed?
Why this turmoil within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,
my Savior and my God. (G)
22 Cast your burden on the LORD,
and He will support you; (A)
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. (B)
11 "Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of Me. 12 Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted (A) the prophets who were before you. (B)
8 We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; 9 we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. 10 We always carry the death of Jesus (A) in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who live are always given over to death (B) because of Jesus, so that Jesus' life may also be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12 So death works in us, but life in you. 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith in accordance with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, (C) (D) we also believe, and therefore speak, 14 knowing that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus, (E) and present us with you. 15 For all this is because of you, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving (F) to overflow to God's glory.
16 Therefore we do not give up; (G) even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person (H) is being renewed day by day. 17 For our momentary light affliction (I) [a] is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. (J) 18 So we do not focus on what is seen, (K) but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. (A) 6 Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses (B) every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (C)
